Pieter Francissen, Primal Games mat manager
During the tournament more than 260 grappling matches take place in a short time frame. Making sure that all the matches start on time can be a bit challenging.
During all the epic grappling battles, Pieter is the man that keeps a cool head at all times. A mat manager like no other, coordinating a group of volunteers, managing the tight time schedule and still looking good with an uncompromised hairstyle that never runs out of fashion.
We’ve asked Pieter some questions about the tournament:
How do you experience the Primal Games?
I think the Primal Games are fun, well-structured and mostly of a high level of grappling. Next to the high level, there is enough space for new talent to show their skills.
What appeals to you in the Primal Games?
As I said before, the mix between high level grappling and new talent but also the vibe, which I think, makes the grapplers want to get back to the Primal Games.
What do you do in daily life?
In daily life I’m founder of an innovative healthcare organization for young people who suffer from addiction and other mental problems in the great city of Eindhoven (www.iamone.nl).
What sports do you practice?
At first, I should exercise more often and eat a little healthier 😉 but I do some personal training and fitness.
What is your function during the Primal Games?
I’m that curly guy that’s constantly screaming your names through the microphone! But at first I try to help Willem and Martijn out, with managing a group of volunteers.
